Weekly Dose (7/12/08)

First song is a track most of you have probably already heard on the radio or elsewhere.  It’s The Ting Tings‘ track “We Walk” off their June 3rd release We Started Nothing.  The first time I heard the song was on the radio and I thought it was a great, catchy beat but I was a little turned off by the vocals.  But after a couple of listens I’m definitely past that now.  It really is a great track.

Second song you’ve also probably heard, “Black and Gold” by Sam Sparro.  Really a great song and it shows a lot of potential from Sam Sparro.  I had never heard the track until Justin Drexler showed it to me about week or two ago.  Apparently the track has been around for a long time but the album it’s featured on, self-titled- Sam Sparro, just came out June 24th.  Truly a great song…

Third track is by Presto and it’s called “Trip to Brazil” off the album Inflight Instrumentals released back in 2003.  It’s a very chill instrumental beat from the relatively unknown Texas born hip hop producer/dj who’s clearly been influenced by producers like Pete Rock, DJ Premier, and Jay Dee/J Dilla.  Presto actually just released an album called State of the Art on June 17th but I couldn’t get any of the track into Mp3 format to send to all of you.  Well, I couldn’t do it quick enough so maybe next week?  Probably not, check the album out if you like what you hear…
