In honor of today’s historic occasion…(in case you didn’t know, Barack Obama was sworn in as our 44th President today to a crowd of hundreds of thousands of people and hundreds of millions of people intently watching on TVs around the globe).
I had a feeling Jay-Z aka Sean Carter was going to drop a verse or 2 on this track as soon as Obama was elected (click “My President (Jay-Z Remix) above). Young Jeezy had the original for this track featuring Nas, featured on his recent record with a fitting title called “The Recession”.
When I first heard “My President” it was immediately my favorite track off the album and I could tell this could easily turn into an Anthem for an entire generation of African-Americans that have felt slighted for the past few decades leading back to Martin Luther King Jr. While the track was released prior to Obama being elected President, one has to acknowledge the fact that regardless if Obama won or lost the Election, he had made his presence known throughout our country as a voice of Change, Reason, and Hope.
Below are Jay’s lyrics to this track, if anyone wants to know exactly what is being said.
Congratulations to Barack Obama, our 44th President of these United States of America. I wish you the best of luck because we all know you will need it going forward….

“MY PRESIDENT IS BLACK, my Maybach too
And I’ll be goddamn if my diamonds ain’t blue
My money’s dark green and my Porsche is light grey
I’m headed for D.C. anybody feel me
My President is Black, in fact he’s half white
So even in a racist mind he’s half right
If you have a racist mind, you’ll be aiight
The President is Black but his house is all white
Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther could walk
Martin Luther walked so Barack Obama could run
Barack Obama ran so all the children could fly
So I’ma spread my wings you can meet me in the sky
I already got my own clothes, already got my own shoes
I was hot before Barack, imagine what I’m gonna do
Hello Miss America, hey pretty lady
Red white & blue flag, wave me for me baby
Never thought I’d say this shit, baby I’m good
You can keep your puss, I don’t want no more Bush
No more war
No more Iraq
No more white lies…
The President is Black!”
