Weekly Dose (1/4/09)

First song is “4, 3, 2, 1″ by K-OS.  It’s the single from the Canadian MC’s upcoming album Yes!.  The album is supposed to be a double CD with all new material on the first disc and remixes on the second disc.  I first heard his track “Man I Used To Be” maybe a year ago and thought K-OS had a lot of potential.  The track was good but nothing special.  I like “4, 3, 2, 1″ a lot more so I’m definitely anxious to hear the upcoming album.  The Pharcyde “Soul Flower (Remix)” sample he uses on this track is pretty recognizable and I like the new take on it a lot…

Second Song is from Quantic‘s Flowering Inferno: Death of a Revolution which was actually released about a year ago.  But I hadn’t heard any of it until recently and I like it a lot.  Quantic (Will Holland) is also known as Quantic Soul Orchestra and has a bunch of songs on my iTunes regular rotation playlist.  He’s a very talented multi-instrumentalist/dj/producer.  Definitely check his stuff out if you like this one.  You’ll probably recognize the guitar and bass line at the beginning of the song.  Hint: Love and Happiness.  Sorry, I’m not very good at giving hints without giving the answer away.  But the music is re-played here, not sampled.

Third Song is Manu Chao‘s “Bongo Bong”.  It’s not really new but if you haven’t heard it, you’ll be really happy I linked it here.  Fun, very catchy, great track…
