The Whitest Boy Alive

Why is it that this band can’t get attention in the U.S.!?  I like Kings of Leon, Coldwar Kids and Sufjan Stevens as much as any v-neck shirt wearing, open vested, scarf-in-70-degree-So-Cal-weather hipster, but SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE THE WHITEST BOY ALIVE their recognition!  Their debut album Dreams in 2006 is still to this date one of my favorite albums. I can listen to cut after cut. Try doing that with a Coldwar Kids album- you’ll get sick of their sound by track 5.  The Whitest Boy Alive have just released their follow-up album entitled Rules.  But I wouldn’t go to the record store (the one or two that still exist)… I wouldn’t even go to iTunes, because you can’t find it!  You’ll have to wait and/or visit this blog to get a fresh taste.  Take a listen to their single “Courage” which in true Whitest Boy fashion doesn’t go over the top buy rather elaborates on the sound they have and explores ways to evolve it.  What does that mean?  They don’t add synthesizers or some other geeky element to try and be “different”.  If you like this, take a listen to “pre-The Whitest Boy Alive” - KINGS OF CONVENIENCE, also fronted by Erlend Øye.
