James Blunt can sing in Spanish too!
Well, maybe a little – this week I bring to you Laura Pausini. This Grammy winner has released albums in Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, English and French with great success. In 1994 Laura Pausini released her first Spanish album entitled Laura Pausini. The album was a success with critics and her contemporary romantic ballads were a great display of the powerful punch her vocals have. While Laura had dominated Europe she had yet to make the same strong impact on North America. In 2004 came the release of Escucha which launched her into a household name in North America. The cross over hit “Víveme” was a smash Latin-pop hit as well as on the contemporary charts. “Víveme” soon received an even bigger honor by being the theme song to the hit telenovela “La Madrastra.” You know you’ve arrived when you’re the theme song to a telenovela. “Escucha” went on to win a 2005 Latin Grammy and a 2006 Grammy. Laura on the heels of a huge year followed up with the Spanish version of Lo Canto entitled Yo Canto. The album sold over two million copies worldwide and earned her the Latin Grammy in 2007. Now in 2009 Laura is collaborating with artists like James Blunt to bring a fresh new album entitled “Primavera Anticipada.” The self titled single has been burning up the airwaves on both Latin-contemporary and Latin-pop stations. Enjoy the video below and have a great week!
