Max Tannone is the guy who made that awesome Jaydiohead mash up album (Jay-Z + Radiohead). Now he’s got a new mash up album- Mos Dub. Mixing Mos Def vocal tracks with older reggae/dub instrumentals, Tannone’s newest work is an impressive, very cool album. Each track is great song on it’s own, but the album is a great listen all the way through. Check out the tracks below…

“Vosotros is music for you all.” The latest release from the impeccably eclectic label is Everybody by Ja Prawn. This is some very cool stuff, surprisingly focused and well structured for how cool it really is. It’s electro-funk at it’s finest with a thick coat of vintage 80′s gloss. Vosotros describes Ja Prawn as “a demigod sculpted of synth sludge, apocalyptic sci-fi soundtracks, and pawn shop lo-fi glory.” Each song is an experimental adventure of sound and the album as a whole is a true musical journey, one you’re sure to enjoy. The Black Keys – Brothers

The Black Keys new album Brothers comes out on May 18th. It’s exactly what you might expect from the Keys and, in my opinion, it further solidifies their reign as the current heavyweight champs of real, head bobbing, lip curling rock. For better or worse, they’re a bit more bluesy than other great modern day rock bands with a similar sound (like The Dead Weather and Band of Skulls) but that’s probably why I like the Keys the most. It’s simple, authentic rock.

Bonobo – Black Sands

Simon Green goes by the stage name Bonobo. He recently released his fourth album, Black Sands. Every album is an impressive, well crafted work of art and Green’s development and growth as a musician and producer is on full display. As I’ve gone through his catalog, each album seems better than the preceding one. It’s especially fun to see what a producer like Green comes up with next. Blending jazz infused hip hop with electro-funk beats, Black Sands is another success for Green. ”Kong” and “All In Forms” are great, more classic Bonobo style songs while “Kiara” and “1009″ are something newer and more adventurous. The album shows a wide influence of genres and styles but manages to keep a strong, unifying tone- some Green has always been good at. ”Eyesdown” and “El Toro” add to that rich sound and steady vibe carried on throughout the album. If you look at it or hear it like I do, the album is a great and very cool piece of music art. James Murphy’s dance/punk style is infectious on This Is Happening, LCD Soundsystem‘s 3rd and possibly their last album. Whether it’s really the last album or not, fans won’t be disappointed. It’s the cohesive blend of electronic, dance music and punk rock attitude and style that Murphy is well known and loved for producing. J Dilla, Mochilla

Mochilla is a cool production company that created a stunning series of 3 Los Angeles based events to honor composers and arrangers who have influenced hip hop. I was excited when I saw the Timeless series dvd box set for purchase on mochilla.com. I recently received my copy in the mail and it was worth the excitement- music art at it’s finest. My favorite is the Suite for Ma Dukes (The Music of James “Dilla” Yancey) which features Miguel Atwood-Ferguson leading a 60 piece orchestra performing the songs of the hip hop producer extraordinaire. Need I say more? Kele – The Boxer (produced by XXXchange)

Kele hooked up with dance-rock producer XXXchange for the Bloc Party front man’s debut solo album, The Boxer. ”Tenderoni” is a powerful single and will certainly lead to a lot of interest and anticipation for the forthcoming album. The single does a good job of distancing Kele’s solo project from his Bloc Party affiliation, which is an area where a lot of solo projects fall short. The Boxer will be available on Glassnote Records in June. The Whigs – In The Dark
