Powder’s official website They really put on an impressive, amazingly fun show that seems like a rock concert at the circus. They blend their own original glam/heavy pop rock songs with covers of classic songs like AC/DC’s “Back In Black” in between stunning set and costume changes, all the while featuring a mixture of burlesque and acrobatic performances.

“Adore Me” The guitar player for Powder is Phil X. He is a mad man on guitar. Aside from playing at formula 1 race speeds, Phil X is extremely talented. There was one song that stood out from the rest during the set. It wasn’t my favorite that they played, but it stood out because it was a slower, more melodic pop duet he sang with the sexy femme-bot looking lead vocalist. The song was well written, but it sounded like it was holding Phil X back because on the other songs he goes absolutely nuts. One of the best guitar players I’ve seen.

Here’s Phil X playing vintage guitars for Fretted Americana (the cleanest vintage guitars in the business) to show customers what kinds of sounds you can get out of the guitars… Going back to the sexy femme-bot lead singer, the show Powder puts on also features 3 or 4 back up dancers, a gigantic alien creature, pole dancing, a contortionist, aerial acrobatics, and a hooded and masked drummer who jumped up after his drum solo during the show, ripped off his clothes and started break dancing and swinging nunchucks all over the stage. The extravagant and provocative costumes changes and the authentic hollywood crowd couldn’t help but make me think that this is what Madonna, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, and all those crazy pop divas are all going for. Granted, I’ve never seen any of them perform so I can’t be sure but I really felt like I was onto something with that one… Anyway, Powder was incredible. Make sure you check them out next time they’re playing.
