“Vosotros is music for you all.” The latest release from the impeccably eclectic label is Everybody by Ja Prawn. This is some very cool stuff, surprisingly focused and well structured for how cool it really is. It’s electro-funk at it’s finest with a thick coat of vintage 80′s gloss. Vosotros describes Ja Prawn as “a demigod sculpted of synth sludge, apocalyptic sci-fi soundtracks, and pawn shop lo-fi glory.” Each song is an experimental adventure of sound and the album as a whole is a true musical journey, one you’re sure to enjoy. Vosotros is exactly what it’s motto proclaims, “Vosotros is music for you all.” The latest project from the hyper-prolific crew is called The Years and each track sounds like it’s from a different decade while the album as a whole manages to retain a solid, unifying theme of soulful, funky jam music for everyone. ”Let’s Stay In Love” is something like Stevie Wonder meets Al Green backed by The Roots while “Theme from Best Buds” has elements of Bob James. ”Heartbreaker” is a great hip hop track and “When Peace & Love Come Together” sounds like something Yesterdays New Quintet would be proud of. The album blends a wide ranging variety of genres which makes for an adventurous, highly enjoyable listen.

First track is a mash up of Mobb Deep’s “Shook One’s Pt II” vocals blended together Bob Marley’s “I Shot The Sheriff” by Jon Moskowitz & Swindle. They also layered a beat on top of the Bob Marley classic which gives the mash-up more of a hip hop feel. These guys actually made a whole album of Bob Marley/Mobb Deep mash-ups called The Infamous… BOBB DEEP, Queensbridge meets Kingston. It’s a cool album but this is by far the best track. I love this one… Mobb Deep VS Bob Marley – Shook Ones Pt II (Bobb Deep Mash Up) (Click to play in Hype Machine) Second track is “Last Dance” from B.R.A.M., an act backed by everybody’s friends, Vosotros (music for you all – www.vosotros.com). Thanks to Neely for sending the link to check out the self-titled album. Bram Inscore lead’s the band and the sound and feel of the album is a great combination of dance-rock and pop. It’s no wonder that Bram is currently the bass player for Beck’s new touring band. They’ve been all over the UK, Europe, and across the US and Canada so Bram has some serious touring experience.
